We live in a world where life without a mobile phone seems very unusual. Mobile phones are an essential part of our daily life. According to a report, there are 7.19 Billion mobile devices active in this world. With growing mobile devices, lots of mobile technology has evolved and has roots all across the world. And here we’re going to discuss these different mobile technologies:
Why is mobile technology important?
Our mobile devices use radio frequency signals to communicate with other devices like sending messages, surfing the net, streaming videos, etc. These signals travel to the nearest tower from your mobile device. Then the tower forwards the signal to the control center.
The radio frequencies mobile devices use to transmit information are part of the electromagnetic spectrum and each spectrum has been allocated to the base station. Because of this, new mobile technologies have been developed to optimise the use of the frequency bands.
What Are Different Types of Mobile Technologies?
What is GSM?
GSM stands for Global System of Mobile communication which is developed by the European Telecommunications Standard Institute (ETSI) to describe the technologies for 2G networks.

CDMA
CDMA stands for Code Division Multiple Access. It is a channel access method used by radio communication technology. It allows users to use the entire spectrum of bands to optimise the use of the available bandwidth. While many people send and receive information at the same time within the same channel, CDMA uses spread spectrum technology to encrypt each message and keep it private.
TDAM
TDAM is a time-division multiplexing technology that allows multiple users to transmit data through the same channel. TDAM divides each signal into different time slots within the same channel. It means each phone call transmitted through the same channel can send and receive information within their specific time slot.
WCDMA
WCDMA stands for Wideband Code Division Multiple Access. It is based on CDMA technology and one of the most popular technologies in mobile devices. Like CDAM, WCDMA also uses the coding scheme to send and receive data. The major difference between them is that they are designed to work with different networks. WCDMA works with a 3G network along with a 3G GSM network and CDMA works with 2G technology.

LTE
LTE stands for Long Term Evolution. It is used in a 4G network to deliver the fastest experience as compared to previous technology. LTE uses different technology to transmit data from mobile tower to mobile device which is known as downlink and transmit data from mobile device to mobile tower which is known as uplink. It uses OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) for downloading and SC-FDMA (Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access) for uploading.
